The Center, incorporated as a non-profit organization is 1969, has served the children and families of Lakeville and Salisbury for 36 years. Our mission is to create an atmosphere which is loving, nurturing and warm, where a child is offered a variety of learning activities designed to further self-help skills and school readiness. Our staff of 12 supervises 70 children ranging from infants to afterschool kindergartners.
The Housatonic Child Care Center facility, buit in 1996, rests on a 13-acre site donated by the Caroline and Gustavus D. Pope family. Inspired by the traditional barns of New England, this building gives the children a wonderful environment for play, offers excellent project space, and allows the staff flexibility in implementing curricular ideas. The surrounding fields provide a never-ending stage of natural beauty for the children to enjoy, while the playground in the back of the center offers hours of outdoor activity for the children.
