NEW HARTFORD — John Pranka Jr. of New Hartford died Jan. 28, 2010. He was a son of Ruth and John Pranka.

Mr. Pranka was an employee of the Metropolitan District Commission (MDC) and served in the United States Army before returning to the MDC. After his retirement from the MDC, where he worked for more than 43 years, he continued to work on his craft of “jack of all trades.” He was willing to help anyone at any time.

Mr. Pranka leaves his wife, Anne; his daughters, Cheryl and April; a sister, Cindy; two sons-in-law, Branden and Daniel; and a granddaughter, Giulia.

Family and friends are invited to the Pranka home Saturday, Feb. 13, from 1 to 4 p.m. Montano-Shea Funeral Home, New Hartford, has care of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to New Hartford Volunteer Ambulance. Visit an online guestbook at montano-shea.com.
