Good Dog Foundation to benefit from clothing sale

MILLBROOK — The J. McLaughlin clothing boutique in Millbrook will host a three-day event to benefit the Good Dog Foundation from Friday, May 13, to Sunday, May 15. Customers who mention “good dogs” will have 20 percent of their purchase cost donated to the foundation.
Susan Fireman, the executive trainer for the Good Dog Foundation, will be at J. McLaughlin on Saturday, May 14, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. to evaluate dogs and discuss the training courses that prepare dogs and their owners for therapy sessions.
The Good Dogs Foundation is a nonprofit organization based in Brooklyn that trains and certifies canines used in animal assisted therapy. The foundation coordinates with health-care facilities that use animal-assisted therapy and sends Good Dog Teams — a volunteer handler and a trained dog — to aid the healing process and improve the quality of life in patients.
J. McLaughlin, which has 45 locations along the East Coast, has been supporting the Good Dog Foundation since its inception in 2005.
